Porirua Wastewater Treatment Plant UV Project

This involved completing a programme of work to upgrade the ultra-violet (UV) disinfection equipment at the Porirua Wastewater Treatment Plant to increase the volume of wastewater that can be disinfected.

This upgrade increased the plant capacity to handle incoming wastewater after heavy rain and prepare for increased wastewater due to population growth in the coming decades.

Stewart Electrical upgraded the UV system with minimal disruption while keeping original UV system operational. This involved project management of the 11kv transformer being relocated while keeping the existing UV plant operational with generators. We designed and built the UV plant control panel, installed the electrical supply, and commissioned the systems.

This job involved regular progress meetings with the client, consultant and main contractor to ensure it progressed to the timeframe. Electrical work was completed within the timeframe and budget and without electrical disruption.
