About
Built on Experience.
Trusted Through Delivery.
For decades, Stewart Electrical has supported the delivery, maintenance and improvement of critical water and wastewater infrastructure throughout New Zealand. Our reputation has been built through technical expertise, quality workmanship and long-standing relationships with clients who know they can rely on us to deliver.
Today, we continue to work alongside councils, consultants, engineers and principal contractors, providing specialist industrial electrical solutions that keep essential infrastructure operating safely and efficiently.
Our Story
Our story began in 1974 with Les Stewart Electrical. Following Les' retirement in 2019, Tim Stewart and Debbie Anderson established Stewart Electrical, founded on the trusted client relationships Tim has built over many years and a commitment to delivering quality electrical services.
After qualifying as an electrician, Tim joined Wellington Regional Council, where he worked in hydrology and gained qualifications in hydrology and water treatment. In the early 2000s, he returned to the family business to work alongside Les on major water and wastewater infrastructure projects.
"I've always had an attachment to water. I was drawn to this industry because I grew up around the water treatment plants where Dad was working," says Tim.
Since then, Stewart Electrical has grown into a respected specialist industrial electrical contractor with a dedicated team delivering industrial electrical projects across the Wellington Region. While the business has grown, our commitment to quality workmanship, trusted relationships and delivering exceptional outcomes has remained unchanged.
Today, Tim and Debbie, of Te Āti Haunui-a-Pāpārangi, continue to lead Stewart Electrical with the same commitment to quality workmanship, integrity and strong client relationships that have defined the business from the beginning.
"Our high standard of workmanship is a legacy from Les that continues today. When we complete a job, everything must not only work, but look good, and be aesthetically pleasing."
That philosophy continues to guide our team today, shaping the way we work, the relationships we build and the quality we are known for.
Our Approach
The best projects are built through collaboration.
We work closely with our clients from the earliest planning stages through to project completion, ensuring every decision supports the long-term performance of the asset.
By understanding both the technical requirements and operational challenges of each facility, we're able to deliver practical solutions that balance performance, safety and value.
Our process can be distilled down to four key steps:
Initial Conversation
A confidential, no-obligation discussion about your business and future plans.
Business Review
If there appears to be a good fit, I will sign a non-disclosure agreement and review high-level business information.
Due Diligence and Agreement
Once key terms are agreed, a detailed review is completed before finalising a purchase agreement.
Transition and Handover
Together, we create a transition plan that protects staff, customers, and business continuity.
Safety & Quality
Safety is built into every project. Working within live industrial environments demands disciplined planning, rigorous safety standards and attention to detail.
The same standard applies to quality. From planning through to the final cable tie, every installation reflects the pride we take in our work and the reputation we’ve built delivering work to the highest professional standard.
Our team have health and safety pre-qualifications with SiteWise and Impac, we have ConstructSafe accreditation, and we’re a member of Hazardco.
Our people
Stewart Electrical is made up of qualified electricians, experienced supervisors, apprentices and support staff who share a commitment to quality workmanship.
Led by Director Tim Stewart, with the support of Operations Manager Nick Walter and Office Manager Debbie Anderson, our team combines technical capability with a collaborative approach to deliver projects efficiently and to a consistently high standard.
Together, we continue the reputation Stewart Electrical has built over decades of serving the industry.
